Lior Vaturi is a New York-based artist whose multidisciplinary practice bridges traditional techniques and contemporary visual language. He holds a BFA from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City.
With a foundation in graphic and design, Lior’s earlier works employed wood dowels, halftone, and pixel grids to explore the relationship between analog and digital expression. By combining cut wood, acrylic paint, and color stains, he created tactile surfaces that produce compelling optical illusions—artworks meant to be experienced both up close and from a distance. This process-driven approach, rooted in repetition and precision, reflects a meditative engagement with form and perception.
His current work shifts toward oil and oil pastel painting, focusing on portraiture and botanical themes. Drawing on classical technique while integrating contemporary material and compositional strategies, Lior investigates the tension between abstraction and representation. His strong sense of layout, balance, and spatial interplay echoes his graphic design background, infusing his paintings with both structure and sensitivity.
Lior has exhibited in numerous group shows, including at The Majestic Theatre and the Monmouth Museum in New Jersey, as well as Art Palm Beach, Context Art Miami, and Context Art New York. His work has garnered several awards, including recognition from the Dave Bown Projects 14th Semiannual Competition, and has been featured in publications such as Artnet and Artsy.
